Yoga in Mexico

A large number of people practice Yoga around the world, so the existence of Yoga in Mexico is no surprise. Since Mexico is a very big city, stress is not unheard of. There are many things that contribute to stress; just looking at Mexico newspapers, magazines, radio, television, or others media will lead you on the path of stress. That’s when Yoga comes into view.

It is necessary to have enough space to fit a yoga mat. It is important to know that Yoga is practiced to strengthen, stretch and balance the mind and body, and this technique has yoga pose or asana sequences.

Firstly, you must know what yoga posture sequences are. Well, yoga sequences are a series of postures or poses made in a sequence. You must be aware of the importance of your body movements, (capacity, stability, firmness and flexibility), and co-ordination to consider the right order of the poses (called asanas). Yoga allows you to know your skeletal, muscle, neuromuscular and organic body, since you will work with each part and various systems of your body.

Yoga posture sequences allow you to have a better understanding the physical and therapeutic applications of Yoga, for example utkatasana, chair pose, strengthens muscles in the legs and arms, and sukhasana, easy cros- legged pose, relieves the anxiety.

It is important you choose a specific focus, this focus can relate to an emotion or a physical aspect of your body, to build your sequence much easier. For example: if you focus is to relieve depression, you can start with pranayama (a simple breathing exercise), then you can make a seated posture such as matsyasana (fish pose) to open your chest. You must know that a yoga sequence also helps to relieve tight shoulders and hamstrings.

After choosing a focus, you can create your own yoga sequence. You have to begin your sequence in a comfortable position to focus well on your breathing. It is recommended to include postures that move your entire body with the purpose of warming your muscles and reducing the risk of injury; you should also include many standing poses, and finish your sequence with sivasana or child’s pose (the restorative pose).

An important aspect of yoga is breathing, so you have to use a breath cycle (inhale and exhale) in your sequence. It is important to breathe only through the nose with the purpose of helping to soothe the nervous system and build heat. You must keep your breathing smooth and deep.

Something important to keep in mind is you must practice Yoga in the early morning or evening on an empty stomach. It is important to calculate how many calories you should eat each day to organize food intake throughout the day. It is therefore important to know what is BMR (Basal metabolic range), and use some tools that allow you to calculate your own values. There are some basal metabolic rate calculator that offer very accurate and professional results.

Some interesting yoga postures are:

Warrior I Pose or Virabhadrasana I in Sanskrit: A posture improves your balance, and activates your legs.

Mountain Pose or Tadasana in Sanskrit: A basic posture in which all yoga poses start.

Forward Fold Pose or Uttanasana in Sanskrit: This pose is a basic standing forward fold yoga asana. Uttanasana activates your kidneys and your liver, and calms the brain, because ithelps to rush blood to the head.

Triangle pose or Trikonasana in Sanskrit: It is a pose that relieves backache, because you lengthen your spine, hamstrings, groins and hips. This pose also helps with stress.

Yoga is an important way to lead an appropriate life; however, aerobics therapy, dance therapy and massages therapy help to have a suitable life as well.
